Volleyball Recap: Valley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Valley was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Sandia on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings fell just short of the Taos Tigers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Valley sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Reese Villanueva, who had 39 digs and two assists. Villanueva is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Divyna Ibarra-Villegas, who had 16 digs.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Taos, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6.

Coincidentally, Valley and Taos will both be playing Pojoaque Valley the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Elks/Elkettes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
