Softball Game Preview: Governor Mifflin Mustangs vs. Mechanicsburg Wildcats

The Governor Mifflin Mustangs will face off against the Mechanicsburg Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Governor Mifflin has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Mechanicsburg will arrive with three straight wins.

Governor Mifflin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 18-12 to Muhlenberg on Wednesday. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Muhls since on Wednesday.

Governor Mifflin got a massive performance out of Claire Hoffman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Hoffman also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Abby Brunelli was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Hoffman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Governor Mifflin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg got the win against Altoona on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Wildcats have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Mechanicsburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Governor Mifflin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
