Basketball Recap: Midway Raiders vs. St. Pauls Bulldogs
Midway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 54-12 loss at the hands of the St. Pauls Bulldogs. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-5.
McKenna Brooks was Midway's leading scorer, having posted six points. Kyleigh Stonerock held things down on the boards with 11 rebounds. Kara Beth Benton took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Zhari Shipman was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten steals for St. Pauls. Shipman's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Zakoreya Davis was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Midway's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for St. Pauls, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Midway has already played their next contest, a 46-20 defeat against Clinton on the 17th. As for St. Pauls, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-42 win against James Kenan on the 25th.
