Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence Academy Warriors vs. Columbia Wildcats + How To Watch

The Lawrence Academy Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Columbia Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Lawrence Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.

On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lawrence Academy beat Pungo Christian Academy 49-43. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won four in a row.

Carter Hoggard was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four). Winston Warren was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Lawrence Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Northside - Pinetown an easy 65-39 win. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Panthers are ranked 214th).

Lawrence Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went Lawrence Academy's way against Columbia in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Lawrence Academy made off with a 58-38 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
