Volleyball Recap: Cardinal Newman Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cardinal Newman waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Pine Knights with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cardinal Newman not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Pine between 15 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

Olivia Peterson paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up 12 kills. Peterson got some help from Dayana Acevedo and her 21 assists. Peterson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Despite the loss, Pine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Juliette Swan had 13 digs and two aces.

Cardinal Newman's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pine, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Cardinal Newman will host Palm Beach Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pine, they are taking a road trip to take on Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
