Softball Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Olympian Eagles

The Coronado Islanders will venture away from home to take on the Olympian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Wednesday, Coronado didn't have quite enough to beat Mira Mesa and fell 4-3. The Islanders have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Sammy Aldworth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Olympian had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Ramona on Saturday. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since March 8, 2018.

Alexandra Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacqui De Murguia was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Anabelle Crabb also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Olympian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Olympian, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-8-1.
