Basketball Game Preview: South Umpqua Lancers vs. Coquille Red Devils

South Umpqua hasn't had much luck against Coquille recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Umpqua Lancers will challenge the Coquille Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South Umpqua will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Douglas, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. South Umpqua was the clear victor by a 44-20 margin over Douglas on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

Meanwhile, Coquille came tearing into Friday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 38-28.

Coquille's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points per game. As for South Umpqua, their record is now 6-11.

South Umpqua was taken down by Coquille 55-28 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can South Umpqua avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
