Baseball Game Preview: Carlisle Indians vs. Waskom Wildcats

The Carlisle Indians will challenge the Waskom Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlisle has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.

Last Friday, Carlisle came up short against Elysian Fields and fell 9-5.

Meanwhile, Waskom had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Ore City on Friday. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Waskom let Jaxon Hicks and Nate Espy run wild. Hicks scored four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Espy scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Those four runs gave Hicks a new career-high. Bubba Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Waskom, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 7-11.

Everything went Carlisle's way against Waskom in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, as Carlisle made off with a 15-0 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
