Baseball Recap: Quitman Wins Going Away Against Castor

Quitman not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st. They blew past the Castor Tigers 11-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Zach Smudricks looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Quitman is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hudson Pullig, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Jake Potts was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The win got Quitman back to even at 10-10. As for Castor, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Quitman will face off against Pitkin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pitkin's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Quitman's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Castor, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Castor Tigers take on Saline Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
