Basketball Game Preview: Richfield Spartans vs. Orono Spartans

Richfield hasn't had much luck against Orono recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Richfield will face off against Orono. One thing working in Richfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Richfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Academy of Holy Angels 89-47. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Orono took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging an 82-29 victory over Robbinsdale Cooper. The game marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season.

Richfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 90.5 points over those games. The victory made it two in a row for Orono and bumps their season record up to 20-7.

Richfield ended up a good deal behind Orono when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 92-78. Can Richfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
