Softball Recap: Mohave Wins Going Away Against Bradshaw Mountain

Mohave had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Bradshaw Mountain on Saturday. The Thunderbirds blew past the Bears 13-2. Considering the Thunderbirds have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Rilynn Bragg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaydence Farnham, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Allison Portillo, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two doubles.

Mohave has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Mohave wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against La Joya Community on the 28th. Hopefully Bradshaw Mountain paid attention to the Thunderbirds' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
