Halifax entered their tilt with Newport on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Buffaloes by a score of 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Halifax let Will Steinhauer and Cooper Custer run wild. Steinhauer went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Custer went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Custer a new career-high. Ryder Tobias was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Halifax kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Halifax's record now sits at 8-1. As for Newport, they moved to 7-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
