Recap: Agua Fria Owls vs. Peoria Panthers

The Agua Fria Owls suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 43-15 loss at the hands of Peoria. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Agua Fria has scored all season.

Despite the defeat, Agua Fria had strong showings from Karla Mendez, who scored four points along with six steals, and Saleen Rios, who scored two points along with three steals. Mendez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Peoria was led to victory by Harmony Re and Michelle Kogbara. Re scored ten points along with two steals, while Kogbara dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. Re has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Agua Fria bumped their record down to 8-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.7 points per game. As for Peoria, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agua Fria will take on Cactus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cactus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Peoria, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Estrella Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Estrella Foothills is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
