Softball Game Preview: King's Way Christian Knights vs. Seton Catholic Cougars

For the second straight game, King's Way Christian will face off against Seton Catholic. The Knights will face off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. King's Way Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with eight straight defeats, while Seton Catholic will come in with three straight victories.

King's Way Christian fell victim to Seton Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 13-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

For Seton Catholic's part, Zola Stephens tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Stephens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooklynn Lubisich was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingsley Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Seton Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Seton Catholic's record is now 15-3. As for King's Way Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King's Way Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seton Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
