Basketball Recap: River Islands Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last six matchups, River Islands finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Venture Academy Mustangs and fell 65-30. The contest marked the Riptide's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, River Islands saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Darius Radoc Factoran posted seven points.

Aiden Thomas was a one-man wrecking crew for Venture Academy as he went 7 of 8 en route to 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Thomas now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Josiah Johnson, who had 12 points and five rebounds.

River Islands' loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Venture Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.

River Islands has already played their next matchup, a 74-47 win against Millennium on the 7th. As for Venture Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 84-30 victory against Ben Holt College Prep Academy on the 6th.
