Hampton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cloudland Highlanders with a sharp 18-9 victory. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Highlanders, too.
Jayden Kuhn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kuhn was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Cade Nelson, who scored three runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Elisha Henson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Seven bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Hampton will face off against Unaka at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cloudland, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Bethel Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
