Volleyball Game Preview: Safford Bulldogs vs. Thatcher Eagles + Official Tickets

The Safford Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Thatcher Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Safford and Tanque Verde, and Tanque Verde kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Hawks on Thursday.

Safford was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Tanque Verde work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Thatcher unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Monday. They lost 3-0 to Show Low.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

Safford's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Thatcher, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.

Safford skirted past Thatcher 3-2 when the teams last played back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
