Baseball Game Preview: Wheeler Lions vs. Ledyard Colonels

The Wheeler Lions will square off against the Ledyard Colonels at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Wheeler came up short against Lyman Memorial and fell 9-4.

Meanwhile, Ledyard waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 9-6.

Jack Leaf was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ethan Spinner and Calvin Casavant did most of the damage at the plate: Spinner went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Casavant went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Sam Dunsmore, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Ledyard, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
