Recap: West Brook Bruins vs. Kingwood Mustangs

The West Brook Bruins can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Kingwood and snuck past 46-44. Given West Brook's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Kingwood is ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Brook's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaylin Jones, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashton Simmons, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

West Brook pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.6 points per game. As for Kingwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

West Brook will head out on the road to face off against Beaumont United at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaumont United knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 21 games -- so hopefully West Brook likes a good challenge. As for Kingwood, they will be playing at home against Humble at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Humble is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
