Basketball Recap: Kongiganak Takes a Loss

After flying high against Kuinerrarmiut Elitnaurviat on Friday, Kongiganak came back down to earth. The Kongiganak Wolverines were beaten by the Eek Cougars 82-49 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Kongiganak lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Sam Lewis, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Lupie, who scored 12 points.

Leading Eek to victory were John Friendly and George Hoffman. Friendly earned 38 points, while Hoffman had 29 points. The contest was Friendly's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Kongiganak's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Eek, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Lewis Angapak the next time they take the court. Eek will head out to face Lewis Angapak at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, while Kongiganak will head out to face them on Saturday.
