Basketball Recap: Toombs County Bulldogs vs. Telfair County Trojans

Toombs County lost against Telfair County back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Toombs County Bulldogs lost 49-28 to the Telfair County Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Trojans are ranked 122nd).

Despite the loss, Toombs County still got an impressive performance from Arianna Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Telfair County can attribute much of their success to Ty'Kristiany Jones, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 steals. Jones continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Trinity Deeds also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Toombs County's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Telfair County, their record now sits at 12-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Toombs County will venture away from home to challenge Savannah Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Toombs County is facing Savannah Christian at the right time seeing as Savannah Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Telfair County, they will head out to square off against Hawkinsville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Telfair County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.1 points per game this season.
