Baseball Recap: Lamesa Comes Up Short

Lamesa had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 13-15-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Coahoma Bulldogs, falling 9-0. Considering the last time the Golden Tornadoes couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Coahoma, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-12-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Coahoma's part, the result came thanks to Adien Rodriguez's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks. Rodriguez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Gonzales, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Levi Green was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Lamesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Coahoma, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-0 victory against Alpine on the 30th.
