Softball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Northern Nash Knights

The Franklinton Red Rams will head out to face off against the Northern Nash Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklinton has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Franklinton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Bunn on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 16-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Rams in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Franklinton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenzie Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northern Nash scored first but ultimately less than Roanoke Rapids in their match on Thursday. They lost 16-3 to the Yellowjackets. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Franklinton's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Northern Nash, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Franklinton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northern Nash struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Franklinton suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Northern Nash in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Red Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
