Baseball Recap: Oak Harbor Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Oak Harbor strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Huron Tigers a 5-0 shutout. The Rockets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

The result came thanks to Caleb Baker's shutout, as he gave up just four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nolan Bickelhaupt, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Butzin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Oak Harbor's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Huron, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Harbor will head out to square off against Lake at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Huron, they will venture away from home to face off against Triway at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
