Recap: Jeff Davis Yellowjackets vs. Toombs County Bulldogs
The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets struggled with threes on Saturday (the Toombs County Bulldogs had 600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Jeff Davis was outmatched by Toombs County on the road and fell 73-33. Jeff Davis was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.
Despite the defeat, Jeff Davis saw an underclassman step up: Elijah Tobler scored 10 points. Malachi Smith was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Dominic Eason continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Toombs County, scoring 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was Eason's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Polke, who scored 9 points along with 5 assists.
Jeff Davis bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Toombs County, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeff Davis will challenge Treutlen at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Toombs County, they will head out on the road to face off against Vidalia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vidalia is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
