Preview: Hughes Lions vs. Mt. Pleasant Tigers
The Hughes Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Hughes is ranked 260th, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 239th).
Last Monday, Hughes came up short against Santa Fe and fell 57-48.
Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 52-51 to Giles County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mt. Pleasant in their matchups with Giles County: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jakyri McClure, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Hayden Holt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five steals.
Mt. Pleasant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hughes' record is now 6-3. As for Mt. Pleasant, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hughes against Mt. Pleasant when the teams last played back in November of 2017 as the squad secured a 74-46 win. Does Hughes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Pleasant turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
