Basketball Recap: Columbus North Beats Southport for Their Fourth Straight Win

Columbus North had won three straight games and Caleb Ferguson did his part to make it four on Friday. Everything went the Columbus North Bull Dogs' way against the Southport Cardinals as the Columbus North Bull Dogs made off with a 75-50 victory thanks in part to Ferguson, who went 7 of 13 en route to 23 points along with five assists and five boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Long, who posted six points in addition to nine rebounds and seven blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Southport lost, don't look at James Kalala. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, Kalala also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack Turner, who earned six points.

Columbus North has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Southport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Columbus North didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-64 win against Whiteland on the 1st. Southport has also already played their next game, a 54-47 victory against Franklin Community on the 1st.
