Yosemite had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Mission College Prep Royals, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 on Wednesday.
Yosemite saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taytum Whitesides, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Mission College Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.
On Mission College Prep's side, Ty Bernal was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Bernal also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mission College Prep is 7-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Bernal was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Kyson Hickman was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Mission College Prep is 3-1 when Hickman posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Thomas Glenn was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Yosemite has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Sierra on the 25th. As for Mission College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against Arroyo Grande on the 30th.
