Volleyball Recap: Darlington Comes Up Short at Home Against Fennimore

Darlington unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fennimore Golden Eagles on Friday. The Redbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 20-25, 25-13, 25-23.

Darlington's offense was headlined by Maddie Gratz and Sydney Wiegel, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Lilly Ritchie and her 20 assists. Wiegel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Darlington has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Mount Horeb on the 30th. As for Fennimore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Princeton/Green Lake on the 26th.
