Basketball Recap: Tobias Howard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Environmental Charter over St. Joseph

Environmental Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Joseph Spartans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-38 back in December of 2024.

Environmental Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tobias Howard, who posted 11 points. Gerard Williams was another key player, putting up ten points.

St. Joseph had a senior duo take command as Ben Bartolovic put up 19 points and Gabe Maltese scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Marino, who had eight points.

Environmental Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for St. Joseph, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

Environmental Charter has already played their next matchup (against Neighborhood Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Joseph will host Geibel Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Geibel Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.3 points per game this season.
