Basketball Game Preview: Currituck County Knights vs. Northeastern Eagles

The Currituck County Knights will take on the Northeastern Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Currituck County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.

Last Tuesday, Currituck County was able to grind out a solid victory over Deep Creek, taking the game 66-59.

Jamie Dance continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Tristan Peterson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.

Currituck County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Northeastern's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Wednesday. They fell just short of First Flight by a score of 54-52. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Currituck County will have to contain Tyell Saunders as he made an impact in Northeastern's last game. He posted 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Saunders a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Jakeel Stallings, who had two points along with nine assists and three steals.

Currituck County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Northeastern, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

Currituck County might still be hurting after the 67-46 loss they got from Northeastern in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Currituck County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
