Baseball Recap: Woodstock Blue Streaks vs. Johnsburg Skyhawks
Woodstock extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They came up short against the Johnsburg Skyhawks, falling 13-3. The Blue Streaks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Skyhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Cayden Holtzee and Max Haggerty stepped up to the plate in a big way. Holtzee went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Haggerty got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double. That triple was Holtzee's first of the season.
As for Johnsburg, their record now sits at 16-6. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
On Johnsburg's side, Ahston Stern was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Stern a new career-high. Dom Vallone was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
While Woodstock had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
