Basketball Recap: Mayo Takes a Loss

Mayo blew Red Wing out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Red Wing got their revenge. The Mayo Spartans fell just short of the Red Wing Wingers by a score of 52-49. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mayo's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Red Wing, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayo will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Minnetonka at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Red Wing, they will venture away from home to square off against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Northfield has won three straight at home, while Red Wing won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
