Baseball Recap: Valor Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Valor Christian won against Ralston Valley on Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Eagles skirted past the Lakewood Tigers 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Joey Dragovich looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Valor Christian let Max Matteucci and Travis Kenz run wild. Matteucci went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Kenz went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Kenz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Nakamura, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Valor Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only posted a batting average of .200.

The victory got Valor Christian back to even at 10-10. As for Lakewood, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14.

Valor Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
