Basketball Recap: West Blocton Takes a Loss

West Blocton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 50-15 loss at the hands of the Berry Wildcats. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 32-26.

Maggie Mauldin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds for Berry. The dominant performance gave Mauldin a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kryssa Fields, who posted two points along with ten boards and three steals.

West Blocton's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Berry, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Blocton and Bessemer City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Berry, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Berry Wildcats face off against the Hubbertville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hubbertville will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Berry surely won't give up without a fight.
