Basketball Recap: Lewis Lancers vs. Mount Vernon Majors
Lewis played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 55-26 loss at the hands of the Mount Vernon Majors. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Majors are ranked 130th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mount Vernon to victory, but perhaps none more so than KaMiyah Dabner, who posted 23 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Aarti Nachnani was another key player, putting up nine points.
Lewis' defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Mount Vernon, their record is now 10-7.
Lewis will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Annandale at 7:30 p.m. As for Mount Vernon, they will venture away from home to face off against Edison at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Edison will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mount Vernon surely won't give up without a fight.
