Baseball Recap: Jena Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hackberry last Saturday, Jena came back down to earth. The Giants came up short against the Haughton Buccaneers on Monday, falling 8-1. The Giants have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Jena saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zoyle Gemar, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Gemar is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another was Carson Willis, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Jena's defeat dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Haughton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 22 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-6-1 record this season.

Jena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Haughton, they will face off against Loyola College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
