A Season-Best Effort from David Burgess Leads Dougherty over Cairo
On Friday, Dougherty had to settle for second even though David Burgess put up the best numbers he has all season. Burgess threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Sadly, Jahbarri Smith posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Bainbridge over Peach County on Friday. Smith picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 61 yards.
This year, Smith has caught 3 touchdowns while averaging 49.8 receiving yards per game.
