Volleyball Recap: Yulee Hornets vs. Stanton Blue Devils

With a playoff game on the line, Yulee rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Stanton Blue Devils as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Yulee's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-15, 25-5.

Yulee got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marie Hillman out in front who had eight digs and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylie Breutzmann, who had six digs and five aces.

She wasn't the only good server: Yulee was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 21 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive games.

Yulee is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. As for Stanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

After both having extra time off, Yulee and West Florida will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stanton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
