Softball Recap: Sprague Wins Going Away Against Parkrose

Sprague came out on top against Parkrose on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run fourth inning. The Olympians put the hurt on the Broncos with a sharp 17-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Olympians.

Shayla Qualls made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brenna Morris, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Bakke, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Sprague always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sprague's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Parkrose, they are on a 46-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-24.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sprague will face off against Newberg at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Olympians are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Parkrose, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Salem at 5:00 p.m. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
