Melrose-Mindoro took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Osseo-Fairchild, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Thunder on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since May 9, 2025.

Colton Koss was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brady Blaken, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Melrose-Mindoro's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Osseo-Fairchild, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Coming up, Melrose-Mindoro will challenge Cashton at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Osseo-Fairchild, they will square off against Augusta at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
