Softball Recap: East Lawrence Gets the Win

East Lawrence and West Morgan faced off in a cross-town battle on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 7-2. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered an 11-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lily Claborn made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Claborn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Kelsi Whitehead was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elaina 'Gabby' Mallard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

East Lawrence's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for West Morgan, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lawrence will venture away from home to face off against Homewood at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for West Morgan, they will square off against Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
