Preview: Point Arena Pirates vs. Potter Valley Bearcats

Point Arena is 9-1 against Potter Valley since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Point Arena Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Potter Valley Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Point Arena has four straight wins, Potter Valley has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Point Arena scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Round Valley 89-37 at home. Point Arena has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 29 points or more this season.

Point Arena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dauki Bechtol led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. Bechtol is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Derek Billy, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Potter Valley took a serious blow against Grace Christian Academy back in December of 2023, falling 68-38.

Point Arena has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Potter Valley, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Point Arena beat Potter Valley 55-46 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Point Arena have another victory up their sleeve, or will Potter Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
