Baseball Recap: East Longmeadow Wins Going Away Against Holyoke

While East Longmeadow put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Holyoke. The Spartans blew past the Purple Knights 10-0. Considering the Spartans have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Derek Helberg, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Maurer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory got East Longmeadow back to even at 7-7. As for Holyoke, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Longmeadow will welcome Northampton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holyoke, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Belchertown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Orioles will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Purple Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
