Recap: Doral Academy Firebirds vs. Miami Stingarees
The Doral Academy Firebirds were the 52-47 winner over the Miami Stingarees when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Doral Academy fell 61-52 to Miami on Thursday. Doral Academy has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Doral Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Victoria Valle, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Martinez, who scored 16 points.
Doral Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Miami, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.
Doral Academy will head out on the road to take on Miami Country Day at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Miami Country Day is on a three-game streak of home wins, Doral Academy a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Miami, Miami and Lourdes Academy will face off at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lourdes Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.3 points per game.
