Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Triad Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by just one run.

Mia Porter was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Mt. Vernon's record now sits at 9-8. As for Triad, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will challenge Belleville West at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Triad, they will take on Columbia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
