Softball Game Preview: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Hudson Explorers

The Valley Forge Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Hudson Explorers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Valley Forge is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Rocky River hit Valley Forge with a seven-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots lost 14-1 to the Pirates. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Hudson came out on top against Cuyahoga Falls on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Explorers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Black Tigers. The Explorers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Shawna Baylor was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Rosko, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Hudson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuyahoga Falls struck out seven times.

Hudson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
