Basketball Game Preview: Brethren Bobcats vs. Traverse City Christian Sabres

The Brethren Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the Traverse City Christian Sabres at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brethren has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Traverse City Christian will come in with 12 straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Brethren took a blow against Glen Lake, falling 66-39. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 558th, while the Lakers are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Traverse City Christian didn't have too much trouble with Ellsworth on Tuesday as they won 67-50. The Sabres pushed the score to 63-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lancers cut but never quite recovered from.

Traverse City Christian's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points over those games. As for Brethren, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Brethren was able to grind out a solid victory over Traverse City Christian when the teams last played back in March of 2021, winning 64-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Traverse City Christian's Brock Broderick, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Brethren to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
