Softball Recap: Windermere Prep Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Windermere Prep dropped their record down to 15-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They lost 10-0 to the East River Falcons. The shutout was out of character for the Lakers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Windermere Prep saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cierra Walker, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for East River, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On East River's side, Katherine Sanchez and Talisa Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Sanchez didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Soto tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sanchez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sanchez went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Soto got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Jenna McCormick was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mady Alvarado, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Windermere Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East River, they will be playing at home against Lyman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
