Football Recap: Wes-Del Wins Going Away Against Southern Wells

Wes-Del won the last time they faced Southern Wells and things went their way on Friday too. The Warriors put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 36-14 victory. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Warriors were the (much) better team in the second half.

Wes-Del's defense made their presence known, laying out Trey Slusher. 3.5 times. Leading the way was Luke Powers with two sacks.

Despite the loss, Southern Wells had strong showings from Slusher, who threw for 229 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes, and Joshua Aulbach, who picked up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown. Aulbach really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 86 yards.

The win made it two in a row for Wes-Del and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Southern Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Wes-Del will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Southern Wells, they will be playing at home against Woodlan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
